Alyas Chaudhry, M.D., Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon

Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon Dr. Chaudhry is board-certified in general surgery. He is board-eligible in thoracic surgery. He specializes in minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgical procedures. [ Back to top ]










Rudolph A. Altergott, M.D., Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon 

Dr. Altergott received a bachelor of science degree with highest distinction from Purdue University, after which he earned his medical degree at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He completed both a five-year residency and a two-year fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center. During that time, he also had a six-month rotation in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at Children’s Memorial Hospital

Dr. Altergott is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Currently serving as Assistant Professor of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Loyola, Dr. Altergott also serves as attending surgeon for more than 15 other hospitals. He has previously served positions with the American College of Surgeons, the Chicago Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the Illinois State Medical Society and the Will-Grundy County Medical Society. [ Back to top ]


Juan Jose Bonilla, M.D., Cardiovascular Surgeon

An accomplished surgeon, Dr. Bonilla began his education at the University of Illinois, Chicago, where he proceeded to receive a degree in biological sciences, earn his medical degree, and serve a six-year residency. Following that, he served as a trauma research fellow at Cook County Hospital and completed a two-year fellowship in cardiovascular-thoracic surgery at Loyola University Medical Center.

Currently serving as the director for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora, Ill., Dr. Bonilla is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.  He has participated in a number of clinical studies, and has served as a member of the American Medical Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Academic Surgery, the Illinois State Medical Society, the Chicago Surgical Society, the Chicago Medical Society and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.  [ Back to top ]


David J. Cziperle, M.D., Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon

Dr. Cziperle graduated from the University of Notre Dame. He earned a master of science degree in cardiovascular physiology from the University of Illinois. He completed his doctorate of medicine at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. An internship and residency in general surgery soon followed at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he served as chief surgical resident.

Dr. Cziperle completed a fellowship in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Loyola University Medical Center. He is board-certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He also is a member of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and the Illinois Thoracic Surgery Society.

Dr. Cziperle is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Loyola. His areas of specialty include valvular heart surgery, thoracic surgical oncology, minimally invasive thoracic surgery and off-pump beating heart bypass surgery. [ Back to top ]


 Bryan K. Foy, M.D., Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon

Dr. Foy graduated cum laude from Georgetown University. A doctorate of medicine followed at the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. Continuing at Loyola, Dr. Foy completed his internship and residency, as well as a fellowship in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. During his residency, Dr. Foy received the prestigious Kaiser Award for outstanding contribution to surgical education as a chief resident.

Dr. Foy is board-certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He also is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and American College of Cardiology, as well as a member of the International Society for Heart Transplantation, and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. 

Dr. Foy is an Associate Professor in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Loyola. He is the Surgical Director of Heart Transplantation and Circulatory Assist Devices at this prestigious school. He also is Program Director for the Residency Training Program in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery.  [ Back to top ]


John G. Grieco, M.D., Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon

Dr. Grieco received his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his surgical residency, followed by his fellowship training in cardiovascular surgery at Loyola University Medical Center.  

Dr. Grieco is board-certified in thoracic surgery and general surgery. Dr. Grieco’s surgical expertise includes all types of complex adult cardiovascular and thoracic surgery including coronary artery revascularization, valve repair and replacement, aneurysm resection, aortic reconstruction, carotid artery surgery and thoracic tumor resection.

He was instrumental in the development of the Heart and Lung Transplantation Program at Loyola University Medical Center and is a clinical associate professor of cardiovascular surgery at Loyola.  [ Back to top ]


Thomas Hinkamp, M.D., Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon

Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Surgery Surgical Critical Care, Dr. Hinkamp practices coronary and redo coronary artery bypass, valvular surgery, aortic dissection, thoracic and aortic aneurysm, carotid endarterectomy and peripheral vascular surgery. He was instrumental in developing Loyola Hospital’s Heart and Lung Transplant program. He performs heart and heart/lung transplants at Loyola University. [ Back to top ]






 


 Frank J. Lutrin, M.D., Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon

Originally from South Africa, Dr. Lutrin received his medical degree from the University of Cape Town.  Shortly after moving to the United States, he completed his surgical residency at the University of Illinois-Chicago and a cardiovascular and thoracic surgery fellowship at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Dr. Lutrin is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.  He currently acts as assistant professor at the University of Illinois-Chicago and specializes in coronary and valvular heart surgery, valve repairs, homograft implants and off-pump coronary surgery.  His experience includes vascular reconstructive surgery, aneurysm and carotid surgery, and surgery of the lungs and esophagus.  J. Michael Tuchek, D.O., Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon

After earning his undergraduate degree at Purdue University, Dr. Tuchek completed a master’s in philosophy at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1984 and a doctorate of osteopathic medicine at the Chicago Osteopathic Medical School. He completed his internship at the Chicago Osteopathic Medical Center and Affiliated Hospitals. Dr. Tuchek completed a general surgical residency at the Loyola University Medical Center. He finished a chief surgical residency at the same school, completing a fellowship in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery. During his residency, Dr. Tuchek received the prestigious Kaiser Award for outstanding contribution to surgical education as a chief resident.

Board-certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Tuchek is a fellow in the American College of Chest Physicians and fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He also is a member of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery.
