Riverside Adult Services

Riverside Adult Services Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program

The Intensive Outpatient program is a group-based treatment program which operates Monday through Friday.  Both morning and evening programs are offered to accommodate the working person.  The goal of this program is to help clients learn how to lead healthy, sober lifestyles without the use of drugs.

The program is multi-dimensional and includes education about chemical dependency, social rehabilitation and relapse prevention and introduction to Alcohol Anonymous' 12-Step philosophy.  Every person in the outpatient program participates in at least one individual counseling session per week.

The recommendation for either residential services or intensive outpatient is based on a assessment of the client's chemical use patterns, living and social support situation and his/her ability to function in an intensive group in a highly structured environment.  Riverside works with employers, managed care companies, employee assistance programs and other referral sources to coordinate discharge planning.

Riverside Adult Services Continuing Care

Continuing Care, which provides education on relapse prevention, is available for individuals who complete a more intensive outpatient or residential program.

Services are provided in a group format.  Group sessions are available at a variety of times to best meet the needs of those in the program.  During group sessions, individuals area able to freely explore problems they are experiencing and receive feedback from group members as well as trained professional staff.  All groups are led by a certified addiction counselor.  Attendance at a minimum of one group session per week is required.  A separate Continuing Care group also is available for women who are going through recovery.

Individuals may be recommended to Continuing of Care following a diagnostic evaluation and assessment to determine whether they meet the admission criteria for that program.  Those who are referred to Continuing of Care generally have accepted their chemical dependency problem, have maintained abstinence.  Individuals who have received treatment elsewhere also may be referred to Riverside for Continuing of Care services.

In addition to the Continuing of Care group sessions, individual and family therapy sessions are available by appointment.

Riverside Adult Services 15-Bed Residential Rehabilitation

The Adult Residential Program provides intensive treatment for chemical dependency in a structured residential setting.  Treatment includes a variety of process-orientated and educational groups as well as individual counseling to help a person develop the skills necessary to maintain abstinence.

Attendance in Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous is required.  Family participation is strongly recommended, and the program offers a family night for spouses, children and significant others in the patient's life.  Individuals may be admitted to the program at any time following a formal evaluation or after being admitted to the Detoxification Unit on an emergency basis.
